Cheap bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai (and from Chiang Mai to Bangkok)

Alternatively, it is also possible to travel by bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

Every day, several busses operate e.g. from the bus terminal Mochit in Bangkok.

The journey by bus lasts about ten hours. The bus is cheaper than the train. However, a bus ride of this length is not for everyone.

If you don‘t want to fly I would rather recommend the train. Depending on the connection with or without sleeping cars and restaurant cars, the time on the train passes faster than on the bus.
